Among all Marvel collectibles released by Bowen Design, the Action version of Magneto undoubtedly stands out for grandeur, manufacturing quality and aesthetic impact: actually, the 1:6 scale pieces of the American company rarely reach the overall dimension of this huge and beautiful statue! The Lord of Magnetism is set on the ruins of the hand of a sentinel (the well-known android enemy of the X-Men), in a rather typical pose: as in many tables of Comics, in fact, the character is practically located in mid-air, with elongated and joined legs, the arms outstretched and slightly strained upward and both hands open in a attitude of absolute dominion! Digitally sculpted by Jason Smith and released in 2013, the statue has been released in 1100 pieces worldwide. The physical is powerful and well proportioned, highlighted by the frontal pose, with large abdominal bands, a wide chest and a highly developed musculature on arms and legs. The visual impact is assured by the huge cloak exhibiting a fine symmetrical shape, full of wide lapels, which follows the angle at the ends of the arms and visually wraps the whole figure, giving it (at the same time) an original dynamism. The costume, clearly inspired, in shapes and colors, to the traditional Comics, is characterized by a purple, high sash at waist, gloves and boots with a reticular look, perfectly standing out on the dark red of the suit, and a metallic breastplate (enriched with large bolts along the edges) that partially covers the neck, chest and shoulders of the hero. Note the many dark shades on the legs, arms and belly, aimed at enhancing the muscles contours. The beautiful helmet is also colored with a metallic hue and exhibits the typical lateral "pads" at cheeks, with a charming purple and finely worked edge. The face is very well-done, with a wide open mouth, the magnetic white eyes slightly bordered with a pale orange color and the classic white eyebrows of the character in good evidence. As in other statues of success representing the main characters of the mutants' world, the base depicts the ruins of a sentinel and notably increases the visual impact, the overall aesthetics and the height of the whole figure. The Sentinel's hand has a wide gash on the back, which makes visible the inner hydraulic mechanisms, and bruises everywhere, made in a workmanlike manner both in sculpt and in the color shades. Also the endless screws inside the sheared fingers and the various metal ruins which enrich the circular base are very nice and self-explanatory! In the recent years, the Magneto Action has reached some crazy quotations, comparable to other Bowen statues devoted to mutants (the Cable Retro and the Iceman Clear, in primis) and has become a true must-have among all collectors.
